Prior authorisation, the process by which an insurer approves a treatment or medication before a patient receives it, costs clinics hours of staff time every day. Priora reads the clinical notes, assembles the evidence each payer requires, submits the request and follows up until there is a decision. Requests that took a clinic 40 minutes each now take about five.

Samir is a family physician who was spending several hours a week on authorisation paperwork, and Kate built clinical data pipelines for a large Canadian hospital network. We wrote our first cheque in 2025, the same year they founded the company. Amira has worked closely with them on their early deployments.

Priora is live in 30 clinics across Ontario and the north-eastern United States, and handled more than 25,000 requests in its first nine months.
